The Shipping & Receiving Coordinator is responsible for all activities of the Shipping/Receiving and Warehousing areas. Coordinates and expedites the flow of materials and parts. Enters, maintains, and reconciles inventory transactions to ensure accuracy. Oversees the primary and final packaging and shipping of finished goods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies.
- Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables.
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
- Receive and store all material either in racks or bins/stock locations.
- Maintain an accurate log sheet of daily moves, inventory, and counting accurately.
- Order materials, supplies, or equipment.
- Prepare documents, such as contracts, transactions, regulatory compliance, work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
- Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, or a postage meter.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Prepare defective material for return to supplier. Track discrepant material, finished goods, and components until final disposition is made. Then, work with Production Control to rectify manufacturing orders.
- Collaborate and communicate with the Sales and Customer Service teams involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
- Pull down and put on the line all material for assembly/welding areas.
- Housekeeping duties include:
- Keeping the pallet storage area organized, neat, and disposed of regularly.
- Keeping scrap areas organized, neat, and disposed of regularly.
- Fill low/empty bins from hardware stock.
- Overall safety, cleanliness, warehouse organization, shipping/receiving, and truck court.
- Empty trash cans throughout the shop area as necessary.
- Break down cardboard and put it into recycling for production.
- Keeping forklift charged to optimize utilization.
- Work with co-workers to develop systems for efficient material replenishment with no line delays.
- Organize the warehouse to maximize space and minimize wasted time, including streamlining small package shipping.
- Support assembly lines as necessary with basic assembly and packing.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated forklift experience of at least one year.
- Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.
- High standards of quality, organization, and attention to detail a must.
- Good computer/data entry skills. Experience with inventory management software a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; 2-year college or technical certificate preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with industry standard shipping software such as ShipStation
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Most work is performed standing.
- Must be comfortable wearing PPE while working.
- The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Required Licensure: Forklift certification
