Shipping Clerk

As a Shipping Clerk you will be a part of the team that is responsible for putting together customer orders and getting them out the door on time! Please see below for specific job duties.

Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.

Wage: $14.72 - $16.32/hour DOE

This job:

• Is deadline-driven
• Requires a great deal of organization
• Requires a high degree of accuracy
• Requires he ability to handle ongoing/multiple interruptions and still be effective
• Requires the ability to communicate precisely and positively with internal/external customers
• Requires the ability to comfortably use a computer: Internet, E-mail, third-party Software, etc.
• Requires the ability to operate forklifts, pallet-jacks, and hand-carts to move material

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Works from picking lists to prepare and pack items following company and/or customer specifications.
• Visually checks and counts products for correct product choice and quantity.
• Responsible for processing UPS, FedEx and International shipments.
• Accurately produces shipping documents for customer and shipping company.
• Generates packing lists and shipping labels.
• Scans sales order pick list with shipping bar code stickers attached to accounting.
• Ensures quantity and product type in shipping box matches sales order pick list.
• Able to correct shipping errors before package is committed in the system.
• Accurately inputs shipping data into MAS and Starship.
• Quotes pricing for customers regarding shipping methods on UPS and FedEx.
• Quotes pricing for customer service on future shipments.
• Communicates between customer service and accounting regarding shipping status.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Communicates workload status and material availability as needed to Shipping Lead and/or Supervisor
• Maintains all equipment and workstation in clean and orderly condition following prescribed safety rules and regulations.
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

1-2 years prior shipping experience preferred but not required

Ability to:

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos;
• Write simple correspondence;
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; Calculate and convert units of measure including length, width, diameter and volume;
• Compute rates, ratios, and apply concepts of basic geometry;
• Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Read tape measure to 1/16th of inch.
• Navigate in proprietary database systems;
• Work independently and as a member of a group in a cooperative and collaborative manner;
• Use or develop reliable systems and work habits to effectively prioritize and organize a multitude of tasks;
• Identify potential problems and independently seek out alternative solutions, including research, trial tests and communication of activities to others.
