Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a contingent job opportunity for a full-time Shipboard Gas TurbineIntake and Uptake Assessment TechnicianLevel IV in Norfolk, VA.
Summary: The Shipboard Gas TurbineIntake and Uptake Assessment TechnicianLevel IV will provide full-time support to Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 240.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for various shipboard assessments, inspections, and technical assistance as tasked
  • Provide technical assistance, assessment, inspections, corrective actions, and groom support for USN and MSC Gas TurbineIntake and exhaust systems.
  • Conduct cold/hot checks to determine equipment condition and identify parameters that are out of specification. Observe operation of the equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance where possible.
  • Utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation.
  • Evaluate findings of the cold and operational checks and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.
  • Provide written visit debrief/reports to the government customer upon completion of each ship visit.
  • Interact and support other inspection teams such as but not limited to INSURV, ERAT.
  • Comply with JFMM guidelines and policies and NAVSEA standard items
  • Attend conferences, seminars, etc. and report results to the government customer as required.
  • Provide on the job training to Ship's Force (S/F) during shipboard evolutions.
  • May require travel 10% or greater.
  • May require overtime.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of four (4) years general experience in assessment, repair, and maintenance of Gas TurbineIntake and exhaust systems on US Navy ships.
  • Minimum of three (3) years specialized hands-on experience working on/inspecting ship structures, and intake/exhaust spaces. Must have knowledge of welding requirements as defined in MIL Standard 1689 and PMS Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRC): G1E8 and G1N6.
  • Current (within three [3] years) hands-on experience with this equipment.
  • Must be certified as a Level 1 Surveyor (IAW CORROSION CONTROL ASSESSMENT AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL (CCAMM) 2.2 Level 1 Surveyor Qualification Requirements) within 8 months of onboarding
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sheet metal, preservation, insulation, piping, and electrical systems on US Navy Ships.
  • Must show technical experience in the field of preservation and/or structural/coatings assessments.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, and visit processes and reporting methods.
  • Demonstrated experience using industry standard instrumentation for diagnosing equipment/systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with technology including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience using US Navy shipboard deck, bulkhead, and compartment numbering and naming conventions.
  • Demonstrated experience using US Navy and shipyard shipbuilding terminology.
  • Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Functional knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active SECRET clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) CIP Level 1, Shipboard Corrosion Assessment Training (SCAT) Technician, or NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI).

ADA Notations:
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions.
  • Job may require bending, stooping, lifting.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • May require wearing a respirator.
  • Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
