This is a temporary position. Expected dates of operation are December 25th-February 20th. Training will begin prior.
TRAINING SCHEDULE
*December 18th 8:30am-4:30pm (this is the start date)
December 21st and 15th 8am-4:30pm
December 22nd 8am-4:30pm
AVAILABLE SHIFTS
Full-time, Part-time, PRN
5pm-8pm, 8pm-8am
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position is a part of the Patient Engagement Team located at Wesley House. The Shelter Resource Specialist provides support to those that are homeless during the cold weather season. Overnight shelter services are offered late evening and overnight. This position ensures a safe, clean, organized, and supportive environment for guests seeking shelter.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Empower guests and provide support and crisis intervention through trauma-informed care. Provides a positive, supportive, and respectful guest interaction.
  2. Provide resource information and triage questions for individuals and families being served at Wesley House during shelter hours.
  3. Provide detailed information to day shift staff to ensure appropriate shift change occurs. Review situations that occurred overnight with the Management staff and submit incident reports as advised.
  4. Follow and enforce Shelter guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  5. Support and assist guests with their shelter needs, including, but not limited to, questions, concerns, hygiene supplies, cleaning supplies, clothing, bedding, food, and more.
  6. Maintain safety and security of Wesley House property, follows appropriate procedure when safety/security concerns arise reporting to the appropriate channels. Constantly monitors to ensure guests are safe.
  7. Complete routine cleaning and light maintenance, such as disinfecting, dusting, organizing, changing lightbulbs, etc...

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Experience providing support in homeless efforts preferred
  2. Experience in social work efforts preferred.
  3. Experience in crisis intervention and problem solving with the ability to diffuse situations without heightening the conflict.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
  3. Must be organized and able to manage/prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, adapts to change in a positive manner, able to work as a part of a team.
  4. Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  5. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  6. Must be computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office products and be proficient with the Electronic Health Record software.
  7. Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization.
  8. Provide customer service in accordance to the organization's mission.
  9. Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.
  10. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance to organization's policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.
  11. Ability to provide compassionate care while enforcing rules to ensure safety of all guests.
  12. Establishes and maintains professional boundaries with clients and co-workers.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Computer work is frequent. Must be able to stay awake and alert overnight to ensure safety of guests. Likely to encounter high stress situations.
