GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Manager is responsible for the delivery of services as it relates to the emergency shelter and corresponding case management in alignment with the mission of "Restoring Hope and Changing Lives." This is responsible for direct supervision, and as a leader the manager should reflect the faith and values of Open Door Mission and its mission of Restoring Hope and Changing Lives. As a seasoned believer, shares the gospel through relational counseling. Implements objectives of Director, monitors service, and adjusts service delivery to maximize results. Selects and supervises staff, trains, and orients, and evaluates performance. Prepares reports related to department. Actively engaged in networking groups that are responsible for related services in the community.
Our Shelter is in transition of providing 1 co-ed dorm to 2 sites that provides a 50 bed men's dorm and a 14 bed women's dorm, with capacity for overflow at each. The position provides supervision to 2 case managers, 2 supervisors, and approximately 10 full time and part front line workers. During October-April, Open Door Mission provides a 24/7 drop in, warming center to our community. Our shelter is under the larger umbrella of residential services, which includes men's long term recovery program and a women and children's transitional house.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Shelter Operations
- Implement departmental strategic goals of Director, monitor and evaluate outcomes; coordinate the activity and assignments of all staff on assigned shifts; communicating regularly with supervisor(s) to ensure completion and progress of goals
- Coordinate chapel schedule and communicate with guest speakers, churches, groups, etc
- Coordinate and communicate with Volunteer Services Manager and Food Services Supervisor staffing and/or volunteer needs, opportunities, and concerns
- Coordinate and communicate with Facilities to carry out preventative maintenance schedule and emergency evacuation plan, and ensure supplies on hand for daily operation of the shelter
- Collaborate with Director to establish and implement house rules and procedures that increase organization, facilitate programming outcomes, and encourage overall safety and security
- Monitor whereabouts of staff and guests on property
- Provide direction to staff to maintain safe and clean facility
- Assist Director in coordinating street outreach activities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct reports include, but are not limited to, Case Managers and Case Aides
- Lead direct reports in the implementation of department goals that are in alignment with agency purpose
- Provide accountability to direct reports in a manner consistent with agency policies, purpose and statement of faith
- Initiates job requisition requests in hiring direct reports, and submits to Director for approval and HR for job announcements
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Ensure proper staff scheduling, approve time off requests and approve weekly time cards
Administrative
- Manage schedule and calendar for chapel, Fatherhood Connection, and other 3rd party activities
- Administrate departmental budget
- Together with supervisor and case manager, ensure adequate health outreach and services provided
- Provide weekly/monthly reports to the Program Director on head count and services
- Conducts meetings with staff to establish, coordinate, and maintain services and communication with and between staff
- Review incident and shift reports, respond to staff or guest needs; evaluate trends and recommend improvements
- Record and secure accurate up to date client files, including Spero, HIMS and physical files
- In event of emergency, notifies Director; if Director is unavailable any member of the executive team
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ministry minded, mature Christian with the passionate commitment for "Restoring Hope. Changing Lives."
- Strong execution skills
- Able to supervise, coach and foster teamwork
- Excellent verbal and written communication; computer literate
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to relate effectively with diverse groups of people
- Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and high pressure environment
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of homelessness, addiction, poverty and mental illness
- Valid New York state driver's license; driving record acceptable to insurance carrier
- CPR , First Aid and Narcan certified
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in social worker with 1-2 years related experience, preferred
- Will substitute more years of direct experience in lieu of higher education
- 1 year previous supervision experience required, primarily with front line employees or within the behavioral health industry
