As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will:
- Perform Sheet Metal fabrication
- Maintenance and installation of HVAC and kitchen equipment
- Regularly fabricate gutters, equipment guarding and housings, and various other metal equipment working from blueprints, drawings, and oral instruction
- Regularly use snips, shears, grinders, hammers, saws, drills, plasma table and welding equipment to perform the essential functions of the position
Education:
- High school diploma/GED is required.
Experience:
- 3 years’ experience with Sheet Metal repair, fabrication and installation work, HVAC duct work and fittings, soldering, welding, and ability to interpret blueprints, and fabricate from drawings and or sketches.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Mathematical calculation skills necessary.
- Computer skills/familiarity with word processor and spreadsheets required.
- Able to utilize electronic procurement system.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 to 80 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. or more occasionally required.
- Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolds and work from height up to 150 feet.
- Ability to work under a variety of conditions, such as confined space (tunnels, pits), heights and hot/cold conditions.
- Required to work outdoors 30% of the time in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 90 degrees.
- Valid driver's License required.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches, developing working drawings, templates, and patterns for Sheet Metal fabrication.
- Performs all measuring and marking metal sheets using squares, rules, trammels, punches, awls, scribes, etc., to indicate notches, holes, edges, joints, and reference lines.
- Provides training in these areas to junior Sheet Metal Workers in the shop.
- Assemble and installs Sheet Metal equipment using drive and S locking devices, nuts, bolts rivets and screws.
- Able to install HVAC ducting systems, machine guarding and housings.
- Performs fabrication of ductwork, fittings, guards, louvers, drain pans, exhaust hoods, material racks, housings, electrical boxes, and specialty parts as requested.
- Working knowledge in the use of snips, manual and power shears, saws, drills, bar fold, box, pan, and leaf brakes, slip and power rollers, crimping and edging tools, hammers mallets, anvils, and blocks to cut, form and shape metals.
- Working knowledge in the use of the spot welding machine, plasma table, mig and arc welder, band saws, drill press, electric shears, press brake, and grinders.
- Identify various gauges of galvanized, hot or cold rolled steel, stainless, copper, tin, lead, and aluminum.
- Able to accurately use precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, scales and levels.
