Sewing Machine Operator: Green-Tek

Green-Tek, an independent division of BFG Supply Company, is an industry leader in the Horticultural coverings market, and excels in supplying made-to-order coverings for greenhouses, nurseries, CEA, Hydro, and lawn and garden markets. The company produces and sells nationally from 3 locations: Dinuba, CA; Clinton, WI; and Baldwin, GA. Green-tek is an important part of BFG, the leading supplier of greenhouses, components, supplies, and chemicals to the horticultural industry.

We are looking for a positive, fast learning Sewing Machine Operator. Based from our Dinuba, CA location the Sewing Machine Operator will be responsible to construct pieces using patterns and given job task specifications. The Sewing Machine Operator will display awareness of all sewing procedures including basic repair faults of the Sewing Machine.

The successful individual will also possess excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work together with the onsite team.

Essential Job Functions:

• Deciding on appropriate sewing techniques before work commences.
• Meeting with manager and inspecting patterns to determine each jobs requirement.
• Performing alterations to existing patterns or creating new ones.
• Selecting suitable thread and placing this onto the spool pin.
• Cutting, sewing, and gluing fabric according to the requirements.
• Affixing buttons, zippers, clasps, laces, and similar fittings.
• Operating foot petal, plus the stitch length and width regulators as you sew.
• Replacing the Sewing Machine’s needle as required.
• Detecting and repairing basic faults with the Sewing Machine as they occur.
• Scheduling repairs for the Sewing Machine and its fittings, as needed.
• Assist in maintaining a clean warehouse as needed.
• Following department policies and procedures to maintain standards.
• Complete other assignments as assigned by Warehouse Manager.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to work extended hours or flex shifts and Saturday’s during busy season (January to July)

Education, Credentials, and Experience:

• Sewing Machine Operator experience -preferred (willing to train)
• Completion of a sewing course- preferred.
• High school diploma or GED Required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.10 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
