Job description

Starting rate: $20 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:                      
This position is primarily responsible for providing support to end users on a variety of issues (PC, printers, hand-held devices, peripherals, software, network, wireless infrastructure and wireless devices).  The requirements listed below are representative, but not necessarily a complete list, of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:   
Reports directly to the Regional IT Manager; does not exercise supervision over any other position. Works under general supervision.  Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.  
  
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   
PRIMARY  
  • Responds to telephone calls, e-mails and personnel requests for technical support including Mount Dora Farms plant in Honduras
  • Provides desktop and network support to employees by identifying, troubleshooting and resolving technical problems
  • Installs new equipment and software and removes old equipment. This may include lifting heavy equipment (PCs, printers, etc.) as well as boxing the equipment for shipment or transferring to warehouse for storage
  • Supports and troubleshoots problems with wireless infrastructure and wireless devices
  • Assists with Servers and LAN Operations
  • Insures proper data backups are performed
  
SECONDARY  
  • Maintains hardware and software license inventories
  • Develops scheduled project deliverables, milestones and required tasks
  • Trains employees on use of new hardware and software products
  • Other special projects as assigned by Management
  
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:          
REQUIRED  
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in installing and configuring PC’s
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in Microsoft Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in deployment and support of wireless devices
  • Ability to communicate (speak, read and write) effectively in English & Spanish at a basic level in a business environment
  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, overtime, weekends and holidays to complete task or projects
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed
  • Ability to move across the different locations within the Terminal facilities in all weather conditions, including driving golf carts
  • Ability to think logically and follow procedures and instructions
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a constantly changing environment
  • Self-starter with ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and other individuals s/he may have to contact in order to perform her/his job
  • Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   
  • The employee is continuously required to sit and use his fingers.
  • The employee frequently is required to talk and/or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk and drive within the Terminal facilities
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  
WORKING CONDITIONS:   
  • Work is performed in office and throughout port Terminal facilities
  • Work is frequently performed in outdoor environments, during day and night shifts exposed to changing weather (temperature & humidity)
  • The employee occasionally works near moving vehicles/trucks/equipment and/or mechanical parts
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals
  • May be required to work on holidays and weekends as necessary
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate when work is performed in the office environment.  The outdoor environment may be moderate to loud depending on the area

  • Report safety hazards

  • Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules
  • Refuse any unsafe task or operation
