Form of workPopCap Games is looking for a Server Engineer passionate about creating clean, elegant software solutions using iterative and incremental development techniques, from feature inception through deployment, to work on our game infrastructure for Plants vs. Zombies. We work in a fast paced environment so dedication to keeping the code maintainable is a must to maintain speed. In addition to being a technical resource, the ideal candidate will also have a passion for games, and a desire to join a team creating great gaming experiences with a focus on game virality, commerce, and ongoing improvement of existing games.
Responsibilities:
- Design highly available, scalable applications for use on mobile games and other platforms
- Working collaboratively to understand and improve game features
- Verifying that the features work properly within the game
- Updating and improving our deployment and monitoring tools
- Creating operational tools to increase runtime configuration
- Working closely with online operations to improve uptime, scalability, and robustness of the game services
- Work on all layers of the applications to improve architecture of whole product
Required Skills/Personal Requirements:
- 3 years of software development experience
- A demonstrated passion for improving your craft
- Understanding of several Object Oriented languages with deeper experience in at least one
- Strong experience with server development (PHP or Java)
- Proficiency in at least one of the following with ability to quickly learn others: PHP, java, HTML, CSS, javascript
- Familiarity with Apache and Linux
- Experience with relational database design and technologies including SQL and schema design
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to team work and optimizing the work of the team
- Experience with Facebook PHP and javascript libraries a plus
Education and/or Certifications:
- BS in Computer Science and/or related field preferred but not required
