Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking for an Staff Circuit Design Engineer (Electrical). This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force. This position will be located in Roy, UT.
What You'll Get To Do:
GBSD has an opening for an experienced Actuator Motor Drive Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The individual in this lead role will develop Analog board designs utilized in the Guidance Computer (GC) IPT. The GC is a high reliability, radiation hardened flight controller for the GBSD Aerospace Vehicle (AVE). The GBSD Guidance Computer contains digital processing, digital I/O, and analog actuator/power I/O electronics functions.
The scope of this role includes:

  • Collaboration with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other Electrical Engineers to perform design trades and requirements flowdown,
  • Create interconnection drawings,
  • Perform electrical analysis,
  • Develop test plans, and
  • Ultimately to deliver working hardware that meets program requirements.
  • Work on an actuator drive board design and development with application in an embedded control processing function.

This position reports directly to the Guidance Computer Unit Responsible Design Engineer (RDE). This position permanently located in Roy, Utah. 10% travel.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 14 years' experience; 12 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 9 years' experience with a PhD.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must be ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance as a condition of continued employment
  • Experience with electrical circuit design including architecture development, conceptual design, detail circuit design, schematics development, worst case analysis
  • Experience with valve and motor control electronics design, analysis and verification
  • Proficiency with PSpice and MathCAD

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Control Systems or Communications and 7 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment
  • Experience with requirements development, system integration, and flight/production test activities
  • Experience with planar magnetics, hi-density mechanical packaging, and thermal control techniques for aerospace environments
  • Experience developing Analog/Power/Drive Electronics for Radiation Hardened Missile or Space applications
  • Mixed signal unit, slice, board, and/or ASIC/FPGA design and development experience
  • Knowledge of control systems and feedback theory
  • Experience developing Digital Electronics for Radiation Hardened Missile or Space applications
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) across all levels of the organization

Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
