Job description

Triton Robotics, a division of Neptune Medical, is a lean, innovative, and ambitious venture capital funded Silicon Valley medical device start-up. We have already commercialized novel medical devices using our Dynamic Rigidization™ technology. Now we are building something truly unique: A fully flexible medical robotic platform intended to replace much of manual endoscopy. We believe our technology will be the standard for endoluminal robotics for decades to come.

TITLE:Senior/Staff Mechanical Engineer, Instrument Mechanisms

POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior/Staff Mechanical Engineer, Instrument Mechanisms will have a central role in further invention of our core technology. This role has a particular focus on the mechanical parts of the endoscope, such as the tips and handles. It will also focus on aspects of the tools that go with the endoscope. • Create analytical documents, including test methods, protocols, structural analysis, and test reports.
  • Lead technical design reviews. Present design inputs, design outputs and open issues.
  • Generate novel ideas that strengthen the company's intellectual property position in the fields of endoscopic robotics and minimally invasive surgery.
  • Be able to both collaborate closely and show a high degree of self-direction.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related.
  • Excellent mechanical designer able to build from prototype to production and work in a highly cross-functional environment.

  • An inventive aptitude balanced with discipline and detail-orientation.
  • Experience with medical device manufacturing.
  • Great understanding of design controls and what is needed to get a product into patients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with mechanism design for robotic medical devices.
  • Experience with development of articulating endoscopes and catheters.
