Job Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Hardware Development Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in creating the next generation of advanced medical technologies. This person will tech lead electronic systems development from concept and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical engineers, industrial designers, user interface designers, human factors specialists, and systems engineers to create great product designs.
What a typical day looks like:
- Work on an exciting variety of products ranging through connected home health wearables, next generation therapy systems, and surgical robotic systems.
- Engage with clients ranging from early stage start-ups to fortune 100 medical device companies.
- Be the Electrical Hardware technical lead on projects in a fast paced, supportive, and intelligent team environment.
- Conceptualize, investigate, and develop innovative product architectures, and electrical and electro-mechanical designs.
- Develop innovative, safe, and high performing design solutions using ECAD, analysis software, and lab equipment for early concept exploration, feasibility, and production.
- Deliver compelling presentations to clients and internal teams to communicate design approach, value, tradeoffs, and recommendations.
- Assemble and test prototypes to support design decisions and demonstrate performance.
- Work with the project team to integrate electronic hardware with software and mechanical hardware.
- Help communicate Farm's electrical engineering capabilities to prospective clients and contribute to project estimates.
The experience we are looking to add to the team:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering.
- 8+ years of product development experience.
- 2+ years of technical leadership on electronics design projects.
- Highly collaborative team attitude with very strong communications and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to create electrical architectures considering interdisciplinary tradeoffs to achieve overall product goals.
- Hands-on skills for developing, prototyping, and debugging analog/digital circuits.
- Working knowledge of several of the following: Schematic capture, Processor selection, Component selection/derating, Design for IEC 60601-1 (EMC, ESD, safety), Control systems, Motor selection, Power conditioning, Battery/charging technology, HMI (Displays and HID)
- Medical device development experience
- Experience with agency standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601-1, IEC 61010-1, IEC 62304, etc.).
