Senior Virtual Design Technician

Walton is seeking an individual with the motivation and drive to showcase their abilities in the design and engineering department.

JOB SUMMARY: The Sr. Virtual Design Technician supports Engineers and Project Managers using a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) system to prepare detailed drawings for commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, and pipefitting systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uses computer-aided design (CAD) system to create designs and drawings, including 3D BIM modeling and laser scanning technology.
• Work from drawings, sketches or scanned images of customer drawings or specifications.
• Able to coordinate drawings and collaborate to identify and resolve clashes.
• Create and maintain an organized file system for drawings.
• Travel to and traverse commercial job sites performing site surveys.
• Create and present technology platform presentations to internal and external customers during pre-construction and construction phases on project.
• Research and identify future software and hardware needs that will streamline intercompany interaction and productivity
• Provide Virtual Design assistance to engineers, project managers, and field personnel.
• Mentor Virtual Design Technician and Virtual Design Assistant.
• Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the company employee handbook.
• Speak, write, read and understand the English language well enough to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Perform related work as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Associate degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Minimum 10 years of work experience.
• Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology.
• Possesses mechanical aptitude with the ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and pipefitting systems design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Fabrication CADmep, Navisworks Manage, and Microsoft Office products. Revit experience preferred.
• Able to self-check work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to standards.
• Able to speak clearly so others can understand.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:

• Driver's License and reliable transportation
