This position offers a completely flexible, part-time virtual opportunity for 8-10 hours/week. Outreach strategy could also include local travel within the Greater Los Angeles area.

The Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF, United Through Love) is a non-profit organization recognized nationally for its pioneering work in domestic violence and sexual assault. CPAF’s multi-lingual and multi-cultural services include a 24-hour hotline, short-term and long-term shelters, counseling, case management, and supportive services. At CPAF, we believe in emphasizing and providing violence prevention programs, outreach, education, and advocacy on the issues of family violence and violence against women, centering on the Asian and Pacific Islander experience. Staff work in environments where children are present and may be called upon to provide support as needed.

Summary Statement: CPAF plans to hire Senior Virtual Community Outreach Specialists, each outreaching to one target Asian ethnic community. Under the supervision of the Community Partnerships Manager, this Senior Virtual Community Outreach Specialist will develop and implement outreach and communication strategy for their target ethnic community, including developing outreach content and identifying formal and informal virtual social media platforms to disseminate information about CPAF’s services.

CPAF is a community-based organization that draws from multiple disciplines to holistically serve individuals and families of many different sizes and cultural backgrounds. All are welcome to apply!

Duties and Responsibilities:

Outreach:

  • Develop outreach strategy for the target Asian community in the Greater Los Angeles area, aimed to reach potential clients.
  • Identify and disseminate, through formal and informal virtual social media platforms, information about CPAF’s services to an Asian ethnic community.
  • Develop new content, if necessary, to best reach the Asian ethnic community through formal and informal social media or chat platforms
  • Conduct outreach using formal and informal ethnic social media and chat platforms to reach the target Asian immigrant community.
  • Connect CPAF with key stakeholders of the target Asian community to continue the outreach and communication

Teamwork:

  • Contribute to CPAF’s overall Community Outreach and communication strategy
  • Contribute to recruiting community volunteers to help conduct outreach.
  • Travel requirements: Driving may be an essential job function for this position to conduct outreach activities in the local area. However, we expect the majority of the position to be remote. A valid CA driver’s license is required if using employee’s own vehicle or agency vehicle to perform duties. The employee must show proof of insurance for his/her own vehicle and must also be eligible for coverage under CPAF’s auto insurance policy.

Qualifications: The qualified candidate must possess demonstrated knowledge, skill, abilities, and experience in the following areas:

General:

  • Fluent in oral and written Asian language required (Bilingual in Korean preferred).
  • Committed to eliminating intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, and family violence; practices non-violence including non-corporal child discipline.
  • Understands and is aligned with CPAF’s organizational values.
  • Understands and appreciates Asian/Pacific Islander cultures; is able to work with diverse communities (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, gender identity, class, etc.).
  • Must submit to DOJ level Live Scan and subsequent arrest notification, national/local sex offender registry check annual TB test and annual driving record search.
  • Must be based in California and have reliable transportation to and from CPAF headquarters.
  • Must have access to own vehicle.

Job Execution:

  • Experience in developing and conducting communication strategies and planning for Community Outreaches.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media/chat platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, Line, WhatsApp, etc.) and how they can be deployed.
  • Strong work ethic, self-directed and able to coordinate multiple tasks, and highly motivated.
  • Able to work well independently and as a member of a team; able to work collaboratively and thrive in a flexible, evolving environment, adapt to situations, and manage change effectively.
  • Able to effectively and efficiently address crises and problem-solve with open communication.
  • Able to plan work schedule respective to program needs, including working evenings or weekends if needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must complete 65-hour domestic violence/sexual assault certification training within 6 months of employment.
