The Senior Vice President of Championships will assess, develop, activate and oversee the direction, operation and management of 84 NCAA Championships across all three divisions. This position is responsible for anticipating and maintaining a vision for future championship needs and for recommending strategies, priorities, and projects that will best achieve the NCAA’s strategic goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction to NCAA championships which enrich the student-athlete and student-athlete experience.
- Creatively and effectively integrate the student-athlete championship with the overall higher education experience.
- Develop innovative approaches with internal and external constituents to promote championships.
- Work with media partners to enhance the exposure of all NCAA championships.
- Employ approaches that leverage the strengths of existing championships as well as explore new opportunities to increase revenues and reduce expenses.
- Oversee and direct championships staff in the role of the championships administration, event management, financial management and staffing.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships through effective communication with internal and external constraints.
- Oversee Playing Rules Committees for 17 championships and interpreters for 7 championships.
- Oversee the Playing Rules Oversight Panel for 78 sport Committees, DII and DIII Championship Committees, DI Competition Oversight Committee and DI Football Oversight Committee.
- Oversee and direct championships staff in the role of officiating development, ticket sales and marketing, social media for championships, digital media, merchandise and licensing, and statistics and media coordination.
- Team with the SVP of Basketball to enhance championship operations and the student-athlete experience by identifying and leveraging best practices.
- Develop performance metrics to measure the success of group initiatives and utilize these metrics to ensure continuous improvement of the department.
- Serve as a member of the Senior Management Team and President's Cabinet.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Education Required Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in managing and leading professional or collegiate sport events and ability to demonstrate excellent performance results.
- Strong initiative and leadership skills while possessing the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to be a dynamic visionary and strategic thinker, and highly proficient as a change agent.
- Candidate must be willing to relocate to Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Estimated Travel Required <30%
- This position will be based out of the national office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Current work environment is hybrid; 3 days in the office and 2 days are remote.

Experience
