Our Senior Trial Counsel position is for a highly skilled Attorney with extensive trial and litigation experience in complex and high exposure Construction, Premise Liability, Products Liability, and Commercial/Personal Motor Vehicle and other civil litigation. This position also requires experience with the handling of risk transfer related issues involved in such cases. As a Senior Trial Attorney for A US Based Investment and Insurance Company, you will join a collaborative learning environment where you will have direct contact with our Claims Professionals all while working from home. Our in-house, remote work opportunity is well-suited for an Attorney who is dedicated to the practice of law and committed to excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is a well-seasoned Attorney with significant trial experience who demonstrates an ability to independently handle cases of high complexity and high exposure. Key responsibilities include:
- Handle complex and high exposure litigation
- Analyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients
- Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions and briefs in support of defense strategies without supervision because of level of experience and expertise
- Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice and other services to clients and claims customers on legal and factual issues in a technology driven environment
- Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures
- Provide for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.
- Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial, and administrative hearings and alternative dispute resolutions
- Provide opinions to Managing Attorney, staff, clients and claims customers
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the tripartite relationship involved in the handling of the described matters is critical.
- Providing a commitment to a high level of customer service is essential
- Provide timely and appropriate reporting to claims on all matters handled following detailed standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of legal experience in civil litigation in state and federal courts within Texas
- JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the Texas
- Documented first chair jury trial experience
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties and time are a must
- Strong communication, computer and technological skills and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required
- Demonstrated expertise and familiarity in the handling of high exposure and complex claim cases and litigation
