About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) is looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our New York/New Jersey Team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. This person will be responsible for the successful completion and delivery of assigned projects with the goal of exceeding the client’s expectations in quality and service within the allocated schedule and budget. The Senior Traffic Engineer, through the Design Manager, draws on the other members of the organization to lead the team with the resources, technical guidance, administrative and technical services and facilities necessary for efficient, profitable, timely and technically excellent project execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(Includes, but not limited to, the following)
• Overall responsible person for the technical accuracy and competency of the project.
• a minimum of 7 years of experience in traffic analysis and traffic signal design, and you're intimately familiar with NJDOT, NYCDOT, and PAYNYNJ standards
• Experience related to traffic safety (vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle), roadside/intersection safety, crash data analysis and development of crash countermeasures
• In depth familiarity with NYSDOT, NYSDOT, and PANY&NJ design standards,
• Successful experience meeting scope, schedules, and budgets on transportation projects/studies
• Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company’s and client’s design and production standards as well as compliance with QA/QC procedures.
• Responsibilities include capacity analyses, and engaging in the design, concept development, and construction of roadways, traffic patterns, traffic modeling, traffic impact analyses and traffic signal design and timing studies
• Technical engineering responsibilities may include traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, safety studies, signal system design, signal timing plans, maintenance of traffic, pavement markings
• Serve as Project Manager and/or Traffic Engineering Task Lead on transportation planning, concept plan development, and feasibility studies of highway, bridge and other transportation facilities projects
• Manage projects or lead/support Traffic Engineering tasks and monitor scope, schedule, and budget
• Prepare Signing and Pavement Marking design plans and Traffic Signal design plans
• Prepare Traffic Control/Staging (i.e., Maintenance and Protection of Traffic) design plans
• Perform Crash Analysis, signal timing analysis and Safety Studies
• Oversee traffic data collection, trip generation, and traffic analysis activities on various projects
• Will help develop junior staff by identifying trainings and seminars as well as mentoring
them on greater project and design responsibilities.
To Be Successful
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‐year college or university or approved equivalent.
• The ideal candidate will have 7-15 years of relevant experience required.
• Must have an active Professional Engineer License in New York and/or New Jersey
• Must bring a minimum of 7 years of experience in traffic analysis and traffic signal design, and intimately familiar with NJDOT, NYCDOT, and PAYNYNJ standards
