Senior Technical Writer

General Overview:
Ampex is a small, fast paced, growing aerospace company looking for a highly organized Senior Technical Writer to join our multi-disciplinary team in preparing instruction manuals to communicate complex and technical information more easily.
Ampex provides a dynamic environment with a diversity of technical challenges. The preferred candidate will produce high-quality documentation that communicates complex information clearly and accurately. The candidate must be experience in technical writing, graphics and presentation.
This position is located onsite in Hayward, CA. No employer visa sponsorship is available.
Principle Duties:
· Write, copy, edit, proofread and maintain all documents related to the product’s development
· Manage the production and publishing of documentation
· Write and process CDRL/SDRL
· Generate documents in compliance with Data Item Descriptions
· Assist in proposal writing (RFQ/RFP)
· Determine assembly sequence of all parts and components and create an individual parts list
· Analyze drawings to ensure accuracy and consistency of data for incorporation to manuals
· Write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively
· Format documentation in MS Word, PowerPoint, or Excel into templates to be used for future document creation.
· Create and maintain the information architecture
· Assist in maintaining and organizing document control structures
Qualifications:
· Must have a Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Technical Writer
· Adaptable writing styles that can be tailored to multiple audiences
· Excellent organization, communication and planning skills
· Creativity and willing to gain an appropriate level of understanding of subject matters
· Experience with Adobe, Microsoft and other applications
· DoD or Government Prime Contractor experience a plus

Compensation:
· Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000 (based on experience)
