We are seeking a Sr. IT Content Editor/Technical Writer, who will be responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The position researches the subject matter, services, technology, or concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience. The ideal candidate has the knowledge and expertise to understand and document complex or specialized topics.
- Responsible for interviewing stakeholders and SMEs to publish standard operating procedures, user guides, and other documents and visual content as required. Document formats may include, but are not limited to, workflows, diagrams, screenshots, and Captivate videos.
- Works with Architectural Review Board to create or edit technical design documents.
- Collaborates with SMEs on the creation of internal IT notifications of changes, incidents, education, etc.
- Responsible for creating and updating policies, procedures, and reference documents used for Bank processes; creating job aids; draft notifications, letters, and forms for a wide variety of uses.
- Manages scheduled updates for procedure documentation and submits changes to the knowledge management system.
- Creates and edits technical documents including quick reference guides (QRGs), user guides, and manuals.
- Determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements.
- Works and collaborates with the subject matter experts, support teams, and other organization members to ensure all documentation is correct and meets style guidelines.
- Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended and adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure clear understanding.
- Creates diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.
- Develops and updates technical diagrams and other documents as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communication, or journalism.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant technical writing experience.
- Professional technical writing certification, such as Certified Technical Professional (CTP) or Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) is a plus.
- 5 or more years of experience with Atlassian Confluence.
- Jira experience is preferred, but not required.
- In-depth understanding of online documentation presentation best practices.
- Team oriented and able to build strong working relationships with all levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain focus, perform, and produce results with minimal supervision, even under urgent conditions.
- Experience creating and editing PDF documents.
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Captivate
- Ability to read and understand a variety of technical documents, including architectural maps, organizational charts, and technical diagrams.
- Requires basic technical background with general knowledge of information systems.
- Must possess strong online research skills.
- Must be able to work independently and possess a high degree of flexibility.
- Must work effectively under tight time constraints and deadlines.
- Experience managing a library of documentation, including storage and organization of documents and change governance.
- Experience with technical writing toolset as well as Word, Visio, Excel, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
- Provide a portfolio of samples, if available.
The base pay range for this position is USD $65,000.00/Yr. - USD $120,000.00/Yr. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
