Resp & Qualifications
PURPOSE:
Researches, analyzes, writes, edits, and proofreads technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, and specifications. Performs these functions in two main business areas proposals and software development projects. Participates in the full life-cycle of the project. Attends meetings such as those that determine software requirements, writing system requirement specifications, software specifications, end user documentation, and any other required documentation as part of the contract deliverable. Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. Participates in establishing style guidelines and standards for text and illustrations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Consults relevant information sources including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel to obtain background information; verifies pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables.
- Develops and communicates standards, organization, style guides, and tools and content for technical documentation.
Reviews and edits documents developed by others to ensure accuracy and quality of content, organization, language, format consistency, and conformance with established standards.
Performs periodic reviews of documents for updates.
Composes communication from the developers for users of the product under minimal supervision.
Writes and/or edits technical documents including business proposals, reports, manuals, briefings and presentations, guidelines, flow diagrams, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements.
Works with technical staff to develop documentation requirements, develops outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management, and ensures that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Business or Technical Discipline OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Experience: 5 years experience as a Technical Writer or communications experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Call Center Operations, Claims and/or enrollment and billing and workflows.
- Knowledge of Facets and/or Nasco.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Ability to grasp technical concepts and effectively convey information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Salary Range: $67,320 - $133,705
