The Senior Tax Accountant - Income Tax will focus on federal and state Income Tax compliance, accounting for Income Taxes, tax planning and research. The position will be responsible for updating and maintaining the tax provision model, managing state notices, and maintaining the tax compliance calendar. The position will require interaction with the corporate accounting group as well as other business groups within DXP. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical skills, motivation and confidence to independently address issues and work with third party service providers.
This role will report to the Tax Supervisor with frequent interaction with the Director of Tax and Tax Manager and will also liaison with the corporate accounting and reporting group as required.
Responsibilities of the Senior Tax Accountant - Income Taxinclude, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly ASC 740 calculations
- Assist in the preparation and review of the U.S. corporation and partnership federal Income Tax returns
- Assist in the preparation and review of state and local income, gross receipts and franchise tax returns
- Assist in the preparation and review of federal and state estimated Income Tax payments
- Assist in the preparation and review of state of quarterly tax journal entries and account reconciliations
- Assist with tax authority notices and/or audits as needed
- Assist in the development of recommendations and implementation plans and assist in making quality decisions in complex and judgmental areas
- Drive process improvements around all tax processes especially internal controls over financial reporting for tax
- Supervise the work of third-party advisors
- Assisting with other projects as necessary
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in tax or business required
- An advanced degree in tax or CPA is preferred
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in public accounting or corporate tax department
- A combination of public accounting and corporate tax experiences is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of and corporation taxation principles
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP required
- Experience with ERP systems
- Must have a demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
- Well organized; plans, organizes and monitors performance according to priorities
- Hardworking; willing to get into the details; strong analytical thinking
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Canada and Mexico tax experience a plus
