The Senior Systems Architecture and Design Engineer will be responsible for providing Lean leadership of the Architecture and Design of process and systems and software as a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, and develop solutions that improve performance of engineering teams delivering their work products.
- Establishes product requirements (internal and external), defines components and sub systems making up the overall architecture. Provides forward looking strategy for platforms and technology development / insertion to make product competitive. Defines and provides scope management. (defines the what)
- Use Lean principles to drive continuous improvement, create visible workflow, establish prioritized work cadence, identify and drive value for the business

- Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
- Implement solutions for technology and process that drive value for internal engineering, new nuclear designs, and existing customers.
- Mentor and train engineering team members in software engineering applications and platforms, configuration, and use.
- Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering roles
Eligibility Requirement
- This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics
- Experience in Lean principles
- Software design and architecture experience
- Computational hardware architecture design, selection, implementation experience
- Experience with Industrial automation technology
- Demonstrated proficiency in implementation of engineering related software tools, including Software Development Lifecycle.
- Experience with change, configuration, document / drawing management.
- Knowledge of nuclear business products, business processes, customers, and competitive environment
- Experience in a regulated industry such as: power, process, marine, medical or oil and gas but preferably nuclear under a 10 CFR 50 Appendix B Quality Program for safety-related systems, structures, and components.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
- Strong team building skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
The salary range for this position is $128-202k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
