Title:Senior Systems Administrator


Type: Perm Employee, salary with benefits


Location: Hybrid position requiring 3 days a week onsite in the Hartland, Wisconsin office. Must live within a commuting distance prior to starting. Must be able to support the data center, local clients, and to come into the office.


Job Summary:

  • This person will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex networks, cloud infrastructures, and security systems. Will be a consultant of a Managed Service Provider (MSP), servicing Clients with enterprise system and network environments. The candidate will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers and support staff. Should be proficient in VMware, networking, Cloud, security, storage, and operations.


Job Duties:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot complex networks, virtualization, storage, cloud infrastructure, and security systems for clients and our data center.
  • Provide Tier 3 support to resolve complex network, cloud, security and performance issues.
  • Develop and manage network security policies and procedures to ensure the protection of sensitive data using micro-segmentation, Zero Trust and VLANs.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Develop and implement ITIL processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong communications skills to align cross functional teams around the delivery of the committed objectives and outcomes.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple deadlines, clients, projects and adapt to changing priorities.
  • The ability to analyze requirements and work with a team to implement changes to enable automation and improve performance.
  • Provide deep, subject matter expertise for a broad portfolio of technology, networking and storage platforms and services.
  • Communicate industry trends, best practices and opportunities for technology and process optimizations.
  • Responsible for accurate and thorough documentation of procedures and practices in the networking area.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
  • 24 x 7 On call rotation required to support tickets for clients and systems.


Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or commensurate experience.
  • 10 plus years of IT experience in system administration, network engineering, cloud infrastructure, and operations is desired
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, time and project management skills.
  • Strong technical skills in networking, cloud, security, and storage
  • Strong technical skills with VMware infrastructure, including vSphere, vCenter, VDS, NSX, Kubernetes and vMotion.
  • Strong technical skills in networking using Juniper, Fortinet, and Cisco platforms.
  • Design and implement infrastructure including switches, firewalls, SDN and other network technologies.
  • Proven expertise in LAN/WAN technologies, network security and networking protocols, including VLAN, STP, BGP, OSPF, and others.
  • Ensure industry standard best practices are followed for network security, including intrusion detection and prevention (IDS/IPS), firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Experience with configuration and management of SAN/NAS storage systems including iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, and CIFS on Dell EMC, Pure, Nimble, HPE, or NetApp
  • Setup and maintain wireless networks including RADIUS authentication.
  • Experience deploying and managing cloud services, preferably on Azure/Microsoft 365.
  • Monitor network performance to identify and resolve network congestion and other performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation including network diagrams, IP addressing schemes, routing policies, and other network-related documentation.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans.
  • Experience with ITIL processes and procedures
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience leading technical projects and project teams.
  • Industry certifications such as VCP, VCAP, JNCP, JNCIP, CCNP, CISSP, and ITIL are desired
