Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-driven and energetic individual to join our Electrical Engineering team at our San Diego design facility. You will become a member of Illumina's award-winning team doing cutting-edge development of sequencing instruments - and enjoy a fast-paced dynamic environment and a culture of open communication and mutual respect! The Electrical Engineering team defines, develops, and commercializes our designs for new, industry-leading sequencing instruments for life sciences and clinical markets.
Responsibilities:

• FPGA design and verification
• Help build our Next Generation DNA Sequencing systems

Requirements:

• Strong skills with RTL design using Verilog
• Strong skills in FPGA verification using System Verilog and UVM
• Strong experience using Xilinx Vivado Design Suite
• Electrical Engineering background including PCB and circuit design
• Be curious and analytical, with a proven ability to learn quickly
• Be customer-focused, team-oriented, and motivated, taking ownership of assigned tasks
• Have proven ability to self-manage, as well as manage interdisciplinary relationships
• Have experience leading design efforts
• Have proven verbal and written communication skills
• Have the ability to drive tasks through to completion
• Possess proven troubleshooting skills

Preferred:

• Ability to write Firmware
• Scripting skills with TCL, Perl, or Python

Education:

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering with 12+ years' industry experience, or MS degree with 8+ years' industry experience.

The estimated base salary range for the Senior Staff FPGA Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $163,900 - $245,900. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
