We are seeking a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in end-to-end hardware design, assembly, integration, and testing to join our Emerging Technologies team. This is a hands-on technical position for someone looking for a role as a key contributor on a growing team.
The Emerging Technologies Department works on cutting-edge research involving innovative design, selection, and implementation of emerging opto-electronics components. As part of the team, you will work alongside other experienced engineers and scientists to develop novel, cutting-edge solutions and facilitate the transition of new technologies out of Research and Development into practical applications.
As a Senior Staff Electronics Engineer, you’ll:
- Lead the design and development of electronic systems from requirements definition, through schematic capture, board layout, prototyping, troubleshooting, design optimization, and design for manufacturing
- Design and develop embedded firmware including top-level executive, real-time scheduling, hardware-specific subroutines, interrupt service routines, device drivers, power management modules, and communications functions
- Oversee design validation and verification testing of embedded hardware and firmware systems, identifying and rectifying problem areas and design deficiencies while maintaining engineering documentation of the development and optimization process
- Interface with our internal multidisciplinary engineering team, management, and external stakeholders including customers, design engineering representatives, and contractors to ensure hardware design quality and customer satisfaction
- Participate in internal hardware design reviews
- Perform hands-on requirements verification testing in the lab to produce and finalize documentation
- Develop and review the technical data package for assigned projects
- Prepare and submit technical documentation and reports through coordination with engineering, configuration management, and upper management.
- Contribute and participate in customer meetings, technical interchange meetings, System Requirements Reviews (SRR) and design reviews (PDR/CDR)
- Other duties as assigned
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years’ experience in the designing hardware (analog and digital) or mission-critical systems (Military/Aerospace)
- Project leadership while designing products for manufacturability from start to finish on an integrated product team
- Ownership Ruggedized circuit board design including schematic capture and PCB layout for mixed signal analog and high-speed digital electronic hardware designs for military and/or avionics products
- In-depth, practical, hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting complex circuits to the component level
- Proven track record of developing real-time, deterministic firmware to control, monitor, and supervise embedded electronics hardware in mission-critical military and industrial systems
- Effective communication skills (oral and written), proficient in generating engineering design drawings/documentation and delivering presentation on design progress during major project milestones such as SRR, PDR and CDR
- Mentorship of junior and senior electrical engineers
- Good problem-solving ability, and ability to work with a diverse workforce.
- Fundamental knowledge of systems and avionics.
- Development of reliability, maintainability, and safety models/analyses.
- Experience with Qualification testing per RTCA DO-160 or MIL-Standards (MIL-STD-704, 810, 461, 464).
- Experience with Model Base System Engineering.

$120,000-$180,000
However, base salary for this position will vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
