Job Description
At Arena Analytics, we believe that talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. Our goal is to rewire the labor market by applying predictive analytics, data science, and artificial intelligence to transform the way organizations identify, match, and hire people. Through our solutions, employers maximize retention by hiring people more likely to stay, improve performance by matching people to the right jobs, and reduce bias in the hiring process by leveraging our powerful AI model. We’re looking for passionate, collaborative, entrepreneurial people who care about building valuable solutions to fundamentally shift hiring practices for the better.

We’re looking for an individual who wants to dive in and apply their engineering talent to solve real world problems in equitable hiring and retention. The ideal candidate is capable of assuming a lead role over time, and will be a key member of the technology team whose input is solicited and used by others. - Drive development on our next-generation back-end system in Node/TypeScript (e.g. using fp-ts) while helping to support existing infrastructure in OCaml, Clojure, C#, and Python
- Deploy new applications using Terraform and migrate legacy systems to Terraform. Monitor them with Datadog, Sentry, and VictorOps.
- Support CI/CD pipeline building and manage infrastructure (AWS, Terraform, Github, CircleCI)
- Design, implement, and maintain data integrations with vendor/third-party systems (e.g. iCIMS, Indeed) in TypeScript
- Review design mock-ups, partake in peer reviews, and suggest tooling changes.
- Drive technical project scoping and planning in collaboration with the Director of Tech and the Chief Product Officer
- Work in a remote team that is highly communicative (daily stand-ups, Slack, Google Meet)
- Mentor other developers and collaborate closely with team members inside and outside of engineering
Qualifications and Skills:
- Has a track record of easily learning new technologies and tools.
- Familiarity with at least a single cloud service (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Must have good organizational skills and the ability to integrate into a communicative and collaborative team.
- Experience taking on a lead role in projects and pushing them to completion.
- Familiarity with functional programming in real world contexts
- Experience giving code reviews and constructive feedback to other developers.
- Experience communicating with clients and translating their needs to technical plans.
- Has strategies to increase speed of iterations/time to market and has successfully led a customer feedback cycle
Bonus points for:
- Experience with declarative functional languages such as Haskell or Scala and monadic design.
- Experience refactoring codebases with limited institutional knowledge.
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture.
- Experience working in a polyglot tech stack.
- Experience with a distributed team.
Experience Requirements:
- Has 4+ years’ professional software development experience.
- Has 2+ years’ professional experience in frontend development.
- Has 2+ years’ experience working with SQL databases.
