As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to engage as part of the Cloud Transformation effort and develop the up-and-coming Developer Portal that will provide Platform as Self-Service capabilities to the Capital Group Developer community in support of Cloud Adoption.
As part of this growing product, you will have the opportunity to work directly with stakeholders, end-users, and other partner teams to derive efficient, user-friendly and scalable implementations that support the developer experience and journey to Standardized Cloud.
Primary responsibilities include:
- You will develop and lead the development of in-house applications based on open-source software
- You will be responsible for documenting and effectively communicating the design of the product that is running on compute systems in the cloud, primarily AWS
- You will lead and mentor junior developers by clearly setting and documenting software methodologies and development practices for cloud-hosted applications
- You will establish and operationalize the inner-sourcing model and framework that will harness the inner-source ecosystem for CG
- You will be responsible for balancing CG standards and industry best practices to innovate and establish development solutions that are scalable and secure

- You have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience
- You have at least 8 years of experience working in Software Engineering capacity
- You have worked in Agile Product development environment utilizing tools such as Jira, or similar tools
- You have experience leading software development for cloud-hosted applications
- You have strong skills in React, AWS, Kubernetes, Typescript, CSS, Python, Nodejs, C#, TFE HCL, CI/CD Pipelines, Shell, Java, Node
- You have demonstrated experience in contributing to open source community
- You possess a strong understanding of SDLC practices, Pipelines and Open Source processes
- You possess excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust communication approach & style to accommodate a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
- You have the business acumen and analytical abilities to understand & translate user objectives into clearly defined requirements and functional specifications
- You have a mindset for driving change and innovation. You introduce innovative ideas that push boundaries and challenge the status quo when needed
- You can deal with ambiguity, manage complexity & drive for results, ultimately taking end-to-end ownership of the outcome.
Southern California Base Salary Range: $148,045-$236,872
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
