JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team memberDesign and develop software and improve existing code to make it more efficient to detect bugs in the codeWrite unit-tests and validate your software against acceptance criteriaAuthor, apply and advocate for team coding, documenting and testing standardsConduct impact analysis to proactively identify impact of a change across multiple applicationsLearn the business process domain to better support the businessExperiment and test ideas, validate assumptions against needs, reach conclusions and recommend solutionsLead code reviews and communicate application changesDocument code and projects so others can easily understand, maintain and supportDebug the problems which arise in production and propose effective solutions within the application and across multiple applicationsRead, write and review design documentsContribute to team's sprint commitments and actively participate in our Agile practicesLead continuous learning activities to improve design and code quality as well as to increase application domain knowledgeParticipate in the talent selection processGuide and review the code, designs and documentation of less experienced software engineers

Writes code that implements the design that is testable, extensible, efficient and maintainable.Impact Analysis: Understand the rationale behind and how changes impact the enterprise and/or applications and across the technical ecosystem.Solution Design: Ability to translate high level requirements to create and implement designs that meet the needs of the customer, are technically sound, maintainable and cost effective. Ability to identify missing or ambiguous requirements. Ability to design at both high and low levels of abstraction, understand complex requirements and translate into understandable solutions. Ability to accurately estimate based on requirements.Technical Domain: Have an understanding of the technical domain, including the application architecture, design and data of the application they support and systems to which it interfaces.Facilitation Techniques: Organize, support and/or conduct workshops, meetings, presentations specific to the objectives of each, problem to be solve, and needs of the audience.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field of study; or equivalent work experienceMinimum 5 years of software engineering experienceStrong understanding and use of one or more object-oriented programming languages and design patternsPractical experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Agile/SCRUM and WaterfallPractical experience in data modeling, design and messagingExperience working on mission-critical enterprise class applicationsDemonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced team membersWillingness to participate in an on-call rotation
Preferred:
Experience in the lead role overseeing technical direction of a team of software engineering talentAdvanced understanding of IDEs, have the ability to navigate through them quickly and leverage advanced features to improve your performanceIn-depth usage and creation of application programming interfaces (API) and frameworks in their particular field: JSON, Rest/SOAP based Web Services, JUnit, Jenkins and Bitbucket preferredExperience in API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modificationsExperience in creating REST API documentation using Swagger or similar tools desirableAbility to use DDL to create database objects and relationships, construct advanced queries, and optimize query performanceFinancial services industry experience

Ability to challenge the status quo and influence stakeholders to create innovative solutionsBe collaborative with other team members, seeking a diversity of thought to meet business outcomesBring a strong understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, provide input and coach team members and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-dayAbility to communicate complex technical information (both verbal and written) to all levels, including senior leadership
Targeted Compensation: Base salary of $120,000+ with an annual performance bonus plan
