About the Department
The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department is an academic unit with the College of Engineering. MAE is the largest academic department in the college and the second largest at NC State University.
Essential Job Duties
The primary functions of the position are to independently develop hardware and software solutions to precision engineering problems, to assist the faculty and students in developing solutions to their research problems and to serve as the manager of the computer systems and local area network in the Precision Engineering Center (PEC). Meeting this responsibility requires involvement in nearly every project in the PEC. This may be as a principle investigator or in a supportive role as a consultant to the faculty and students.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
State Minimum Education and Experience
MS/PhD in Mechanical and or aerospace Engineering or related field or comparable record of independent research and software design productivity.
Other Required Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of programming languages (in particular C and Matlab), computer architectures, real-time systems, signal processing, statistical analysis and assembly language programming of a variety of processors.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Design, Control, Manufacturing, Metrology experience
- Previous teaching at the graduate level.
