WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: The Health Communication Research division in the Communication Campaign Research & Evaluation practice area needs a self-starter to manage multiple, complex formative, process, and summative evaluations that guide the planning, implementation, and revision of national, state and community-based health-related communication programs, campaigns, and activities that are primarily sponsored by federal government agencies in the United States. This senior position is ideal for someone who is continuing to build a career in project managing teams that conduct applied research using mixed methods for multiple projects, particularly those that must use cultural competency and plain language to speak authentically and respectfully to underserved populations.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage teams that design and execute studies, ensuring that work meets a high standard of quality within budgets and timelines
- Develop team members through timesheet and expense monitoring, workload management, goal-setting, training, ongoing coaching, and continuous performance reviews
- Oversee new business development efforts, including by developing proposals for new clients
- Support client account management to understand research needs, manage expectations, and build long-term relationships
- Review and provide feedback to team members on deliverables (e.g., study plans, research materials, reports, strategic plans, presentations, infographics)
- Lead submissions of research packages to Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB)
- Spearhead the development of creative solutions to problems
- Support the dissemination of research (e.g., via manuscripts, presentations, and posters)
- Support collaborations with other divisions at Fors Marsh (e.g., related to marketing and outreach, advanced analytics, user experience research)
- Support thought leadership (e.g., via webinars, professional association events)
Qualifications:
- Master's or doctoral degree, ideally in health communication, and if not then in communication, public health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, or a related social science field
- At least 10 years of work experience
- At least 2 years of experience with managing teams for multiple fast-paced, budget-defined contracts
- At least 2 years of experience with supervising staff members
- Strong self-starting skills
- Experience with theory-based based, mixed-methods research that incorporates cultural competency
- Experience with managing changing needs and expectations from multiple stakeholders (e.g., project directors, clients)
- Experience with IRB and OMB reviews
- Experience with translating complex research results into recommendations or strategic plans to inform the development and refinement of programs, campaigns, and activities
- Experience with developing proposals and/or grants
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate proficiency with qualitative (e.g., NVivo) and quantitative software (e.g., SAS, Stata, SPSS)

Salary: $98,000-$115,000
