The Coordinated Science Laboratory is looking for a Senior Research Manager to work within The National Center for Principled Leadership & Research Ethics (NCPRE) at the University of Illinois. NCPRE is dedicated to creating and supporting academic cultures of excellence: excellence in mission quality; excellence in exemplary leadership; and excellence in ethical and responsible conduct. The Senior Research Manager will participate in and conduct research on active research projects in addition to managing projects, deploying resources needed to produce results, and monitor budget and staffing needs of the department. This position will have a central role in advancing the ideas of the project with our research group and in conversations with our sponsors.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
Research, Curricula, and Content Development:
  • Lead independent and collaborative research projects between researchers and stakeholders.
  • Conducting research and content: conducting qualitative interviews and analysis for needs analysis for projects.
  • Developing content for instructional programs and reviewing and critiquing content developed by others.
  • Literature reviews: reading and synthesizing research literature to identify gaps and relevant research findings
  • Publishing research synthesis: synthesize NCPRE research and programs into articles for academic audiences, both peer reviewed and for public engagement.
  • Presenting at scholarly meetings: developing and presenting results of our work at professional research meetings as well as assists in developing and tailored workshops that cater to academic units, faculty, postdocs, department heads, and others.

Administration:
  • Serving as liaison with funders: attending planning and development meetings, participating in evolving and emerging program design, developing needs analyzes.
  • Monitor accounts, update and review department budget, and process staffing needs in consultation with the director.
  • Oversees NCPRE's usage of project management software tools and other business support systems, organizing, driving, and coordinating meetings.
  • Identifies best practices, recommends, and participates in establishing procedures for effective business processes for projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in business administration, management, psychology, or a technical field related to the position. Alternative degree fields may be considered/accepted if relates to accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCPRE projects).
• Two years of experience leading research projects (can include graduate program work).
• PM certification or equivalent professional training directly related to the principles and methodologies of project management.
• Experience managing independent and collaborative projects and personnel.
• Ability to travel as needed.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after January 31, 2024. The minimum salary is $75,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
