TITLE: Interim District Library Coordinator
LOCATION: Urbana School District #116 School Buildings
SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning
JOB SUMMARY: The District Library Coordinator is a leader in instruction, curriculum and technology who promotes, develops, maintains and manages library materials and services to provide equitable access to resources and services, encouraging students, staff and parents to become lifelong readers and independent users of various information and ideas in all formats. The District Library Coordinator provides training, support and leadership for all school libraries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

• Coordinate operations of school libraries to ensure district policies and procedures are followed.
• Provide support for administrators in the hiring and evaluation of classified and certified library media personnel.
• Maintain and administer the District Library/instructional materials automation system.
• Act as liaison to other departments, schools, parent groups, community agencies, public libraries, and business partners.
• Create and maintain a social media and web presence for the District Library program curriculum.
• Disseminate and support K-12 library and information literacy learning targets, including research, digital citizenship and media literacy skills.
• Establish a calendar of monthly meetings, both virtual and face-to-face.
• Promote reading and information literacy for students, staff, and parents in a variety of ways.
• Participate in the district curriculum review process to ensure that the library print and digital collections support the curriculum.
• Oversee purchase of appropriate curriculum support materials.
• Develop digital curriculum and/or resources for classroom use as requested.
• Analyze collections to build equitable resources across the district and identify areas of need.
• Select fiction and nonfiction materials, to include print and digital resources, including e-books and databases, to meet the educational and recreational reading needs of students.
• Oversee processing of district purchased curriculum resources into the library automation program.
• Collaborate with staff and administrators to define and implement district-wide technology services that meet the needs of instructional technology users.
• Support initiatives and the exploration of innovative and emerging technology tools and resources.
• Create technology documentation, guidelines, and procedures that provide training and support.
• Provide group training and support for new, existing, and substitute library staff in instructional technology, library operations and procedures.
• Provide training and support for staff in print and digital library resources and instructional technology.
• Visit schools to collaborate with staff and provide individualized and group training.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, with certification and endorsements in library and media information systems.

EXPERIENCE

• 2-3 years teaching students at the elementary level as a librarian/media specialist; except in the case of a new college graduate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Stipend position
