It also provides an important source of research and information on worker centers, unions and the changing workforce for students, scholars, policymakers and the public.
The Senior Research Analyst (SRA) is a full-time career position that will support the Labor Center Rework Team's research development, project direction, coordination and management, research instrument development, data collection and analysis. The SRA will determine research and evaluation priorities in collaboration with the Labor Center's research allies and community and labor partners to expand the Labor Center's research capacity through partner training, developing relationships with research partners, local and state agencies, and tracking labor and workplace trends in the field to expand labor research and education projects throughout California and nationally. The SRA will help scope, conduct, analyze, and publish research related to low-wage industries, workplace conditions in these industries, worker advocacy initiatives, and initiatives to improve worker and workplace protections and systems.
The Senior Research Analyst (SRA) will support the Labor Center's Rework team in managing and coordinating multiple applied research projects. The SRA will oversee research and evaluation coordination, methodology design, implementation, data analysis and dissemination in line with the center's strategic priorities. The position will entail attending meetings and regularly engaging with community partners and key stakeholders in critical labor sectors and agencies in Los Angeles and California. The research includes surveys, interviews, literature reviews, and analyzing government data sources. The SRA will work with a research and evaluation team to prepare data for analysis such as coding interviews using software, analyzing data, preparing and summarizing data for reports, report drafting, and supporting dissemination to broad audiences. The SRA will also create visually appealing materials for varied audiences. The SRA will play a key role in expanding the research and evaluation capacity of the Rework research team. The SRA will work with partners to determine the most appropriate type of research or evaluation for their programs, help design appropriate methodology for innovative projects focusing on underserved worker communities in California, and help explore research approaches that center marginalized communities and measure improved worker voice, job quality, and equity quantitatively and qualitatively.
