Senior Property Accountant
Job Overview:
As a Senior Property Accountant you will play a key role in managing and overseeing the financial aspects of a property portfolio. In addition to property accounting responsibilities, this position will also involve handling general accounting tasks for the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property accounting, possess excellent analytical skills, and be adept at handling various accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records for the company's property portfolio.
- Perform month-end close procedures for assigned properties, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports related to property performance and profitability.
- Collaborate with property management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes for the property portfolio.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Handle general accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
- Work closely with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the finance team.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Yardi and Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
