Sherman Residential is currently seeking a Senior Property Accountant to oversee accounting functions for our portfolio for multifamily properties. This person must regularly coordinate with other departments and have daily interaction with our Controller, Vice President of Operations, Asset Manager, on-site Managers and Assistant Managers. The Senior Property Accountant must be the liaison between the accounting team, operations and upper management.??
Job Description
Coordinate the daily, monthly and annual accounting activities for our portfolio of properties – including but not limited to; financial statements, supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts, general ledger classifications, cash distributions, bank reconciliations and property level performance returns.
Become our in-house expert on Yardi software and assist properties with questions on processes
Complete and review the compilation and delivery of monthly and quarterly financial reports to properties and lenders as well as internal use
Ensure the delivery of financial statements within established internal deadlines
Assist with the annual budget process including the development of the budget, ensuring it is reported accurately in Yardi and evaluation of results against the budget.
Manage the accounting processes and procedures in order to continuously assess best practices.
Communicates regularly with upper management to discuss the financial performance of properties and respond to accounting questions
Interact professionally with on-site multifamily teams, internal management, vendors, and various corporate departments.
Assist with acquisition and disposition closing and documentation review including reviewing loan agreements, prorations, operating agreements, budgets, and certifications.
Assist in the Yardi setup for acquisitions and deactivation for dispositions.

Travel:
This position is a full-time position and will require the availability to travel 15% of the time.

Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification or CPA candidate is a strong plus
4-6 years of Accounting experience, preferably in a multi-family environment
Proficient in Yardi property management software preferred
Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes
Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite
Pay Range: $85,000-$90,000
