Job Details:
Provide technical oversight and systems engineering management for a assigned projects. Apply systems engineering processes and skills to systematically convert customer needs into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Responsible for systems planning, system and lower level requirements development, system design, analyses and trade studies, hardware/software design oversight, system integration, system level test, and subcontractor technical management/oversight. Prove input and support for project risk management activities. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide technical oversight on a given project
• Estimate, plan, schedule, and execute systems engineering activities for a given project
• Perform system level test planning and oversee test implementation
• Interface with both internal and external technical and management representatives
• Perform technical risk management activities
• Integrate specialty engineering disciplines into a project team
• Direct a project team to define and document the system architecture and design for a training system
• Oversee developing hardware and software designs to ensure compliance with requirements and system
design
• Ability to partner with the architect and provide details requirements. Ensue flow charts and detailed representation of the project is put in place.
• Ability to handle difficult challenges which will require independently investigating the solution and documentation/training.
• Perform kick-off project meetings and present the technical nature of the new projects and efforts put forth by transit agencies.
• Demonstrate ownership to ensure project and tasks are completed, and report to your manager proactively on road-blocks.
• Participate in developing innovative processes/procedures partnering with project manager and technical staff.
• Thorough technical understanding on critical/major services currently being provided. Understanding of all moving parts from Point A - Z. Drive documentation.
• Ability to independently operating situations that affect deadlines and timely escalation back to your manager.
• Knowledge of current ITSM process - Incident/Change/Problem Management.
• Agile thinking and being pro-active. Strong communication skills treating your partners and colleagues with respect and dignity. Exhibiting temperament.
• Actively participate and manage Gate 12/13 and drive results.
• Good understanding of deadline, results, and management bottom-line.
• Ability to support additional responsibilities as directed and discussed with manager.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Four-year college degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline, plus five years of related experience
Master's degree with three years of related experience.
Experience in creating, analyzing, documenting and testing system and subsystem designs. Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs and requirement management database tool.
Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks.
Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance, if necessary.
