Who we're looking for
Toyota's Production Engineering Powertrain department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Senior Production Engineer to work in the Powertrain group.
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare, coordinate engine manufacturing equipment to support new model launches and improve cost competitiveness.
This position will be located at TMMAL in Huntsville, AL reporting to the Engineering Manager for TMNA satellite office and will support the Powertrain department's objective to execute Capital Projects from planning thru Start of Production (SOP).
What you'll be doing
  • Developing process plans for engine production lines within the powertrain department with direct support from Manager.
  • Directly supporting other engineers or technicians through coaching & mentorship.
  • Leading the cost planning, budget creation, machine specification, procurement, validation, installation, pre-productions trials, launch of powertrain production lines, continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Develop and implement cost competitiveness kaizens in machining and assembly to lower cost per unit.
  • Creating and maintaining detail schedules and budgets for assigned area.
  • Participate in cross-functional working groups across the local facility and corporate departments to achieve project goals.
  • Participate in a mentor program to grow as an engineer and learn from others within the department.
  • Responsible for construction / equipment installations as necessary.

What you bring
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering or similar technical field; and/or equivalent automotive engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in production preparation of manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in execution of capital projects; preferably from initial planning to start of production.
  • Experience creating and implementing processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with detail schedule creation and utilization for capital projects greater than $500K.
  • Experience and/or exposure to general dimensions and tolerances.
  • AutoCad experience, including the ability to read, interpret and modify 2D designs.
  • Ability to support weekends, off shift, and holidays (as needed).
  • Ability to work the two shutdown times of the year in July and December.
  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally to 20%.

Added bonus if you have
  • Advanced Degree, such as Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering / Technology, or an MBA.
  • Toyota Production Engineering experience in: Assembly, Machining, Welding, Stamping, etc.
  • PLC experience, including the ability to investigate and troubleshoot highly preferred.
  • Experience and/or exposure to CNC programming, cutting tools, manufacturing processes, etc.
  • Experience and/or exposure to Toyota Business Practices problem-solving.
  • Equipment installation and validation.
