The Senior Systems Engineer will work with internal and external customers and stakeholders to identify requirements and create verification plans for rocket programs. Help balance the conflicting nature of requirements and verification scope with cost, schedule, resources and risk. Recommend system engineering tools and define processes. Support business development and work with customer Systems Engineers in definition of new program requirements.
Major Position Responsibilities
- Translate customer needs into specific requirements for systems and subsystems; assess impacts of potential requirement changes to overall system and subsystems.
- Create high-level system architecture/design using model-based design.
- Support creation of sub-system architectures(s), physical views - system elements (blocks) and critical interfaces.
- Create and manage the requirements verification database provided to the customer and ensure that it satisfies each system requirement.
- Assist in the establishment of milestones and schedules for major Systems Engineering projects.
- Plan and support implementation of system integration testing and verification program to ensure the system meets all requirements, including development of test procedures and how compliance will be demonstrated.
- Plan and support generation of technical documents and presentation of technical briefings to internal and external customers, including proposal-writing efforts for Systems Engineering as required.
- Support senior management business development and work with customer's technical members in definition of new program requirements as required.
- Participate in design reviews and program reviews as required, including preparation of presentation materials.
- Serve as Systems Engineering Integrated Project Team (SEIPT) lead for large rocket production program. Will require frequent interaction and communication with customer counterparts.
- Serve as primary risk manager for both production rocket program as well as for development programs.
Basic Qualifications
- In depth knowledge of requirements management and requirements verification matrices using tools such as DOORS or Enterprise Architect.
- Ability to create and define a Requirements Management process.
- Experience documenting system and sub-system architectures.
- Expertise in validation and verification, including experience with simulation tools such as MatLAB and Simulink.
- Strong technical writing skill, and disciplined approach to documentation and presentations.
- Strong team collaboration and leadership.
- Experience with risk management/mitigation plan development
Education and/or Experience:
BS Engineering in a related field (physics, optics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering) and 5-10 years' experience in Systems Engineering.
Pay Range (USD)
80,000-121,000
Additional Compensation
Hired applicant may be eligible to participate in the Company's Gain Sharing Program.
