The Senior Maintenance Engineer will provide leadership to the maintenance department responsible for equipment, property, buildings, and facilities. This role will be responsible for setting strategies for the replacement of components considering the life span and equipment/machine utilization and will also involve the capital investment and project management. This position will be involved in equipment analysis to determine the best method of maintaining the equipment given the equipment use and developing either time-based maintenance procedures, predictive maintenance procedures, such as, condition-based monitoring and/or breakdown strategies and the follow-up to ensure that the methods are giving the desired result. This position will also be required to work cross functionally with maintenance, production, utilities, facilities services, and other technical groups to reduce equipment failure frequency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for equipment documentation and updating drawings as needed for modifications
  • Generate monthly reports, as needed, for maintenance engineering activities and KPI's of area of responsibility
  • Work closely with Suppliers to improve equipment up-time
  • Open, lead and resolve Kaizen to eliminate root-causes (triggered by major offenders, 80/20 rule and Cost D.)
  • Support and perform Kaizen projects, as related to Maintenance Engineering
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance on repairs of equipment in emergency situations
  • Give support, where required, to create OPL's for Autonomous Maintenance
  • Maintains and updates the plant equipment standard by working with various Maintenance staff members
  • Perform design work to reduce equipment weak points
  • Manage a preventive/predictive maintenance system
  • Maintain an effective preventative maintenance schedule and control mechanical inventories.
  • Encourage good work habits and promote safety
  • Support by working cross-functionally with internal support departments and occasionally with external manufacturing to drive project completion
  • Develop a strong understanding of the manufacturing process and details of the associated hands-on operating requirements
  • In conjunction with various internal and external stakeholders, investigates and coordinates the resolution of deviations through the comprehensive use of Root Cause Analysis Tools If required, collaborate with technical and operational stakeholders, and write and/or revise
  • SOPs, batch records, technical reports, and other operational-related documents
  • Generate training material and conduct training for manufacturing staff
  • Generate and Manage Metrics
  • Coordinate equipment downtime/MTTR/MTBF/3R5S/Improvement/Attendance
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process or maintenance problems and develop action plans to resolve issues and improve reliability and uptime
  • Identify new technology for new/current assets and assist with identifying user requirements, procurement, and implementation as needed
  • Identify and implement maintenance, safety, and environmental practices
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned
  • Experience in vehicle battery production plant maintenance preferred.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience and/or education
  • Minimum of 5 years of Production Maintenance engineering in the automotive industry
  • 2D/3D CAD (AutoCAD/CATIA) proficiency

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Good knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Good knowledge of Robotics, PLC, and VFDs
  • Some knowledge of (TPM) Total Productive Maintenance.
  • Some knowledge of Auto CAD and SAP part of Maintenance
  • Some knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, passionate about problem-solving with the ability to assemble a team of internal experts to provide solutions to customer challenges that will deliver value to the customer
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
