Overview
The Labor relations team services the co-op by partnering with business stakeholders and our HR team to drive a consistent people experience across the co-op that enables teams to do their best work; fosters a respectful, inclusive and fair workplace; maintains a productive, harmonious working relationship with employees and drives the right business outcomes. The Labor Relations team also serves as a center of excellence fostering best-in class planning and initiative/program management practices across the co-op. This role will be integral in driving the organization on execution of key strategies, that resonate deeply with our culture, values and business objectives.
The Sr. Portfolio Manager contributes to REI's success by providing exceptional end-to-end leadership and management over critical transformation initiatives. The right candidate will serve as a consultant, business partner, and program leader on numerous employee engagement projects and programs. This role will partner with professionals at all levels to develop and lead the co-op's most critical efforts, accountable for developing roadmaps with key milestones, as well as identifying critical dependencies and potential risks. You will play a key role in ensuring initiatives deliver intended outcomes and outcomes. Focus areas include development and management of initiative charters, success metrics, governance, schedules, communication plans, status reports, leadership updates, successful initiative delivery and initiative close-outs.
To be successful, the ideal candidate requires exceptionally strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills in addition to being a strategic thinker with proven business acumen in order to consistently facilitate successful outcomes of complex initiatives. This role also requires a resourcefulness with the ability to navigate ambiguity, driving results and accountability across multiple senior leader stakeholders, initiative teams, and third-party partners as necessary.

  • Project manage Labor Relations teams strategic initiatives and workstreams through partnering and influencing key stakeholders cross divisionally; inclusive of defining project owners and stakeholders.
  • Own end to end portfolio management, define projects scopes, design process through finished state to achieve agreed upon completion
  • Development and implementation of assigned projects, programs and initiatives involving cross functional teams (inside and outside of HR)
  • Partners with initiative owner to help develop initiative portfolio vision, set governance, create roadmaps and drive cross-divisional stakeholders alignment towards initiative goals
  • Works to proactively identify and track all initiative risks, working with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans, steps needed for responsible resources (team members), and communications. Escalates risks as needed to initiative leaders and DVP, Labor Relations.
  • Ensures smooth transition of completed initiatives into operations, including coordinating with all key initiative stakeholders to ensure appropriate training and support.
  • Effectively builds alignment and coordinates with senior leaders, key stakeholders, and initiative team members across divisions to deliver against initiative outcomes.
  • Develops and manages Labor Relations tools and processes to be leveraged across initiatives.
  • Ability to be professionally assertive in order to influence outcomes, advocate for initiatives, and ensure accountability.
  • Maintains a depth of knowledge to help drive strategy and actions for the Labor Relations initiatives
  • Leads and/or contributes to continuous business process improvement efforts to reduce waste and help streamline and standardize how we approach and accomplish work.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline: Business, Management, Human Resources, Communications, Project/Program Management certification or related field.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience as a Project/Portfolio Manager or related role, managing large business critical initiatives working across multiple stakeholders including c-suite senior leaders
  • Experience working in a multi-channel retail company with revenue of $2B+ preferred
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading process improvements efforts and implementing innovative solutions to solve business problems
  • 3+ years in Human Resources and/or employee engagement preferred
  • Proven track record of portfolio management across a range of process areas and workflows & ability to define and execute multiple detailed activity plans simultaneously
  • Skilled in customer facing activities covering requirements gathering, data interpretation, timelines management and document preparation
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively within a team and have strong influencing skills
  • Strong analytical skills and mindset to evaluate business value, risks, and decision implications
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple concurrent initiatives with varying scope and complexity delivering on commitments and holding others to same
  • Strategic thinker, working to identify critical questions and navigate decisions and obstacles with strong judgment and an entrepreneurial mind
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and proven ability to straddle big picture strategy and downstream tactics
  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships within and outside of the organization from individual contributors to senior leadership
  • Ability to consolidate information and feedback from various sources and build consensus with senior leaders, key stakeholders, and initiative team members to resolve issues and reach sound business decisions
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office business applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Project Management principles and methodology preferred
  • Skilled and fluent across print, digital, and web environments
  • Demonstrates excellence in both written and verbal communications
  • Strong senior leadership presence and persuasive speaking skills
  • Demonstrates skill in dealing with uncertainty and ambiguity - persistent in producing outcomes when details are in flux and deals with problems that don't have a clear solution
  • Actively participates, collaborates, influences, and leads with others on one's own team and cross-divisionally for the achievement of business goals
  • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities
  • Executes multiple demands effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals
  • Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work

Pay Range
$111,000.00 - $177,500.00 per year
