Position Overview
C&S is currently seeking a Senior Planner to work with diverse communities across New York State, prepare technical planning documents, and manage diverse sub-consultant teams for planning projects. Additional responsibilities include:
- Lead outreach activities such as public meetings, committee meetings, walking tours, and stakeholder interviews
- Potential GIS Mapping for inventory & analysis of study areas
- Creation of agendas and recording meeting minutes for various community and private meetings
- Coordination of consistent communication with municipal clients
- Identifying implementable and helpful solutions for a wide-variety of planning topics including recreation, transportation, community & economic development, and housing
Skills/Education/Experience
- 5-10 years in the Urban/Community Planning field or similar
- Client facing and Business Development experience
- Ability to travel (within NYS)
- Ability to work on multiple projects for different programs that are at different phases at the same time
- Ability to meet project deadlines set by clients and agencies
- Experience with NYS planning programs preferred (Downtown Revitalization Initiative, Smart Growth, Local Waterfront Revitalization Program, Brownfield Opportunity Area Program, Climate Smart Communities)
- Experience with grant writing for local, state, and federal agencies
- Experience with facilitation of public meetings and knowledge of municipal operations/processes
Estimated Compensation Range: $85,000 - $94,000/year*
*Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
