Job Description

AECOM Aviation practice is seeking a seasoned  Senior Aviation Planner to support current project and new projects about to increase our backlog.

Great opportunity for a mid level professional to join a growing and and already well established Aviation practice. Located in New York city with opportunity to work on iconic airport projects,

  • Manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews.
  • Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexations, site plans and plats.
  • Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues.
  • Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.
  • Develops plans, studies and analyses on regional basis.
  • Works in regional program areas relating to natural/water resources planning, community development, hazard mitigation, coastal zone management, and others.
  • Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans.
  • Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.
  • Under limited supervision, performs advanced and/or complex duties demonstrating full use of economic, financial, marketing, planning, accounting, statistical and/or other management science theory and techniques.  
  • Applies sound professional judgment in solving a variety of problems.  
  • Has lead responsibility for a designated area or function.  
  • Completed work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Oversee junior staff in the production of aviation planning project documents, scope and fees, reports, graphics, 3D modeling, and materials for community outreach
  • Preparing various planning studies, planning support, computer aided drafting (AutoCAD), GIS analyses compiling design data, developing cost estimates, and other assignments as needed to meet the needs of our clients, and with minimal supervision
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance processes to ensure quality project deliverables
  • Report project status directly to project managers and executive management
  • Train and mentor junior airport planning staff in the preparation of Airport Master Plans, Airport Layout Plans, and other airport planning studies
  • Participate in business development opportunities as needed

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Urban Planning, Planning or Environmental Design + 4 years’ experience preparing various components of airport master plans, airport layout plans, terminal planning projects and various studies addressing the need for and timing of airport facilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor junior airport planners
  • Candidates should have competency with word processing and spreadsheet computer programs such as Microsoft Office
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Master's Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering or Aviation Management.
  • Pilot License
  • Airport Operations Experience

  • Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $135,00/ year (exempt).
