Job Title: Payroll Senior Analyst
Department: Finance Department
Reports To:Senior Payroll & Tax Manager
Position Overview: Responsible for managing and processing of various payroll functions.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process, reconcile, and transmit semi-monthly payroll for all employees using Ellucian Colleague and E-Treasury. Assist in the review and maintenance of an attendance controller for each administrative employee.
- Process periodic payroll taxes after each payroll based on state/federal guidelines using ADP.
- Assist Senior Payroll & Tax Manager with payroll activities (semi-monthly, multi-state payrolls; payroll tax filings; W2 reconciling and processing, payroll garnishments; paid leave benefits; Kronos export file interface; GL interface, etc.) to recommend and implement changes for best-practices.
- Prepare other ad hoc payroll reports on a routine basis as required by management and applicable governing agencies.
- Calculate retroactive pay, and assist with input of all salary changes, deductions, etc.
- Assist in processing stop payments, cancel checks, direct deposit reversals & other bank-related issues.
- Generate manual checks and transmit direct deposits for off-cycle check runs.
- Assist in Processing & Reviewing Faculty Contracts and Stipend Payments.
- Oversee the full Kronos integration project for all employees, training, import/updating balances, payroll export file, scheduler etc.
- Assist with updating employee changes (ie: address changes, banking, name changes and tax information).
- Research and resolve questions from managers, employees and third-party vendors received in writing or verbally related to the processing of payroll, PTO, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions and other changes.
- Assist with special projects as assigned by management.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required in accounting or related discipline preferred.
- Five to seven years related work experience.
- Kronos Time and Labor experience are strongly preferred. Prior experience using Ellucian's Colleague and ADP.
- Experience with an in-house payroll system is required.
- Working knowledge of payroll, wage, and tax laws and regulations required
- Self-starter with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; and demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and willingness to work flexible hours.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) required.
- Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues.
