Education

  • High school graduate
  • 2 years of college or equivalent experience

Experience / Qualifications
  • Minimum of four years healthcare experience and working in an information services department with extensive knowledge of PACS, RIS, and Cardiology systems
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organization skills required
  • Proficiency of information systems and personal computers needed. Familiarity with radiology/cardiology specific applications such as Optum (Change Healthcare) RPACS and CPACS, Powerscribe, etc.
  • Ability to learn new equipment, software updates, and train the end user
  • Ability to guide and mentor one or more PACS Support Analyst(s)
  • Maintain integrity of the RPACS system for imaging department
  • Maintain integrity of the CPACS system for the cardiology department

Position Summary
The Senior PACS Administrator is responsible for day-to-day operation of RPACS/CPACS equipment including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, and prefetching and other related activities. Works closely with leadership to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the RPACS/CPACS system as well as network transmission, RIS validation, exceptions handling and trouble shooting.
  • Investigates, identifies, and prepares proposals to solve specific operational problems within all clinical imaging operational areas, working closely with imaging leadership and hospital directors as well as involving the next level of administration as appropriate.
  • Works closely with imaging/cardiology leadership as well as IS leadership in the development of operating standards, policies, and procedures. Reviews feedback from customers, compiles and analyzes support data, and recommends procedural and educational changes as appropriate.
  • Works closely with radiology's quality management personnel to identify and design future needs and efficient workflow processes, which include further integration into operations.
  • Acts as liaison between radiology and other departments supported by medical imaging initiatives and procedures and assisting with existing or new medical imaging endeavors.
  • Works in cooperation with imaging leadership and cardiology leadership in identifying present and future needs for equipment installation and budgetary preparation; coordinates strategic planning for medical imaging systems initiatives.
  • Oversees the activities of PACS Administrator(s)
  • Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new and /or upgraded systems.
  • Orients, trains, and maintains training workflow documents for physicians and JMC team members both clinical and clerical.
  • Prepares reports for imaging leadership regarding medical imaging operations as appropriate or directed.
  • Attends and participates in departmental/hospital meetings.
  • Attends seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain appropriate level of professional competence.
  • Ensures all department, hospital, and JCAHO, ACR, State & Federal guidelines are met and maintained for imaging systems, retention rates and HIPAA compliance.
  • On-call duties are on a rotating basis with PACS Administrator(s) and Epic Radiant/Cupid Analyst(s) to include after hours, weekend, and holiday coverage.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
