Mini-Circuits designs, manufactures and distributes integrated circuits, modules, and sub-systems for high-performance radio frequency (RF) and microwave applications. With design, sales and manufacturing locations in over 30 countries, Mini-Circuits' products are used in a range of wired and wireless communications applications. Our products are also used in detection, measurement and imaging applications, including military communication, guidance and electronic countermeasure systems, commercial, scientific, military land, sea and aircraft; automotive systems, medical systems, and industrial test equipment.
Mini-Circuits' sells its products to over 20,000 customers globally through our direct sales force, applications engineering staff, sales representatives, as well as through our extensive website.
Position Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of package and process development supporting the MMIC products. The candidate's primary responsibility will be to own MMIC package assembly while working with internal and external package assembly houses. This role will also lead the development and operation of micro-assembly processes in an engineering lab setting. The candidate will work hand in hand with the design and product engineers from design conception to release-to-market.
Salary Range: $132,000 - 198,000 per year
Job Function:
  • Create manufacturable package assembly drawings in consultation with the MMIC and package design engineers.
  • Lead all MMIC assembly discussions with internal and external packaging houses.
  • Work with operators to develop substrate attach processes (epoxy and/or solder) and die attach processes (epoxy).
  • Set up and maintain wire bonder.
  • Design tooling and fixturing to facilitate assembly.
  • Continuously improve existing manufacturing techniques by researching new epoxies, attachment methods, interconnect methods, etc.
  • Assist in the qualification of contract manufacturers.
  • Assist in the creation of assembly documentation and procedures for manufacturing MMICs.
  • Participate in technical design reviews.
  • Efficiently solve operational issues as they arise.
  • Interface with QA to maintain a quality product.
  • Comply with documented departmental and corporate procedures and recommend changes/improvements to procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum BSME (MSME or equivalent preferred).
  • 10+ years of industry engineering experience, with at least 5 years of semiconductor packaging and/or process development.
  • Competent in microwave and millimeter wave packaging, manufacturing, and process development.
  • Must have strong knowledge of microelectronic chip-and-wire manufacturing methods and techniques, including: wedge bonding, silver epoxy application, expansion coefficient and thermal conductivity of materials, plating, hard and soft substrate materials, and printed circuit board manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Must have the ability to use 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Draftsight, Inventor, SOLIDWORKS, etc.).
  • Business-related computer skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
