There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Experience performing common facility maintenance and repair tasks on electrical and mechanical components, equipment, and systems under the normal supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor or Leader who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Use moderate physical effort in the process of stacking, loading, unloading, moving, and carrying tools and equipment, and materials ranging in weight from 10 lb. to 50 lb. Occasionally required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Work inside and outside and the jobs usually are dirty, dusty, and greasy. Is sometimes required to perform work outside in bad weather and in work areas that are noisy. Is frequently exposed to the possibility of broken bones, burns, cuts, bruises, shocks and strains. Occasionally is required to wear uncomfortable protective clothing.
