- Manage network and system monitoring
- Manage customer escalations
- Manage NOC tools
- Analyze alarms and trouble indicators to identify trends
- Diagnose network alerts, events or issues
- Provide real time support to NOC, test and turnup, filed service, and engineering departments as needed.
- Train co-workers to ensure NOC functions can be maintained
- Be available to work any shift or after hours during major issues
- Perform root cause analysis on all high-level network issues
- Be on call and available to work in a 24X7X365 work environment that may require night, weekend, and holiday hours.
- Network SME
- Act a Bridge Manager during major incidents
- Work with engineering to keep abreast of new network expansions and equipment deployments
- Maintain technical document library
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Must be able to work in a team environment and promote a harmonious working relationship in the NOC, with other Departments, field personnel, and clients
- Develop operational processes and procedures for new equipment and audit old processes for accuracy
- Analyze alarms and identify root cause (i.e.LOS, LOF, ES-L, etc)
- Train Tier 1,2, and 3 technicians and develop training materials
- Define common terms used in telecommunications (DS1, DS3, OC-48, VLAN, DWDM, LEC, CLEC, 4G and 5G, VLAN, fiber optics, etc.)
- Explain the use of common telecom protocols (layer 1, 2, 3, SONET, OSPF, BGP, VPLS)
- Explain the difference between Incident Management and Change Management
- 7 years’ experience working in a NOC environment with engineering exposure
- 2-year degree, or technical training (technical school or military)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 4-year technical degree
- 8 years NOC environment experience
- 4 years transport engineering experience
- ITIL Certification
- Experience with Major Incident support
- Change Management Experience
