Senior Network Engineer

Position Summary

This position within the Professional Services Team is responsible for the design and implementation of advanced technical solutions and products to provide high value and service efficiency for our customers.  This Team is active in all phases of networking technologies and advanced routing technologies with an emphasis on layer 2 switching and advanced OSPF configurations.  This individual will establish relationships with key clients, design workable technology solutions, provide implementation, and serve as an escalation for operational support.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate superior ability to complete assigned tasks on time and on budget, as well as initiative to expand level of expertise.
• Develop solid working relationships with Computer Solutions’ team members and client team members.
• Participate in project planning meetings with Solution Architect(s), Project Manager(s), and Sales team members to better understand and manage client expectations.
• Provide recommendations for technology solutions in the form of work estimation reviews, technology updates and work demand.
• Follow up and provide excellent, professionally written technical documentation to include accurate time reporting required for the creation of project performance metrics
• Professional conduct, presence and appearance with clients, team members and partners at all times.
• Balance independent problem solving with proactive, organized requests for support of team members with different experience.
• Passionate about improving foundational consulting skills.
• Continually develop technical skills by proactively seeking to expand knowledge and skills through classes, VOD, manuals, conferences, and other materials.
• Develop solid working knowledge of Cisco and other company practice technologies.
• Follow proper procedures to proactively manage and report allocation requests, loaner orders and maintenance renewals to Account Executive/Account Manager or client.
• Demonstrate solid understanding of service offerings and ability to communicate their value to clients, team members and partners.

Desirable Skills

• Qualified candidate must have a minimum 7 years’ experience focused in networking technologies focused heavily in the route/switch expertise, with diverse skill sets preferred or the desire to pursue multiple fields of expertise (wireless, security, etc.).
• Solid F5 understanding with experience implementing load-balancers.
• Cisco professional level certification CCNP or with ability and desire to obtain CCIE.
• Understand and follow Cisco Validated Design solutions.
• Understanding of the solution life cycle from inception to operation.
• Demonstrated ability to perform troubleshooting in complex LAN and WLAN network environments.
• Ability to configure both autonomous and Light Weight Access Point Solutions, including Clean Air, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, MESH.
• Expertise with various levels of Cisco routing, switching, wireless and security hardware.
• Expertise with Cisco IOS, IOS XR, IOS XE and NXOS on multiple platforms.
• Experience with advanced switching, including VSS, vPC, FCoE, FabricPath, OTV, and VXLAN.
• Expertise with advanced technology solutions such as Cisco ISE, ACS, WAAS, Prime, SD-WAN, SD-Access, DNAC, ACI.
• Expertise with Routing protocols to include EIGRP, BGP and OSPF.
• Experience implementing BGP for multi-homed networks.
• Thorough understanding of WAN technologies including MPLS-IP/VPN, and IPSec tunnels.
• Understanding of firewall concepts and experience with Cisco ASA and NGFW.
• Strong understanding of QoS concepts and implementations at Layer 2 and Layer 3.
• Basic knowledge of Fibre Channel switching, vSANs and Fibre Channel Zoning.
• Possess technical and operational understanding of corporate IT services.
• Functional understanding of VRF configurations and troubleshooting methodology.
• SD-WAN understanding of concepts or experience desirable.
• Familiarity with Meraki configuration methods or hands on experience a plus.
