We will consider candidates located near our Norwalk, CT office and must be able to work 5 days/work week in office.

Position Overview:

The Senior Network Engineer is directly responsible for designing, building a reliable, efficient, and secure operation of Mitsubishi HC Capital America, Inc., (MHCA)'s LAN/WAN networking and telecommunications, including equipment, services and support. This position is a key senior member of the IT Infrastructure and Support team having direct responsibility for the connectivity and performance of the Company’s overall network performance and directing the work of network subcontractors when utilized.

The incumbent accepts the responsibility for establishing and maintaining the internal control system associated with the essential duties and responsibilities of the functional areas that the incumbent manages. The incumbent must understand, abide and uphold the system of internal controls related to the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, including SOX and COBIT compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage vendors who provide critical hardware, software and services in support of a secure, reliable network.
  • Ensure reliable network performance with proactive monitoring and reporting on network activity, security, performance and capacity planning.
  • Work with all locations to develop and implement a converged cloud-based strategy for voice communications and collaboration.
  • Ensure the secure implementation, maintenance and support of all network equip­ment and services (LAN / WAN / Internet).
  • Coordinate the prompt, effective resolution of all network issues and outages. Perform root cause analysis to document outages or issues that impact the business, including steps taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide direct support and technical assistance to users by promptly addressing trouble tickets and providing helpful customer feedback.
  • Conduct research, evaluate trends and work with IT management to develop a network strategy in support of current and evolving business needs.
  • Investigate alternatives, recommend solutions and manage complex technical projects for the implementation of new technology.
  • Work closely with IT colleagues as an integral part of the infrastructure and support team.
  • Assist with data center planning, disaster recovery planning and other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

  • Designing and maintaining a scalable, reliable network infrastructure.
  • Maintaining a secure redundant network infrastructure.

Act independently; Decision-making within Company policy.

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has no direct management or supervisory responsibilities to MHCA employees but does direct the work of subcontractors as needed. Additionally, this position is expected to act as a subject matter expert / functional leader and work closely with unit managers and IT team members at all levels.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:

  • Strong understanding of structured network design and the OSI Interconnect model, especially as it relates to the design and deployment of structured networks.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of a range of enterprise networking architectures, services, products (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Splunk, Solarwinds, Meraki), including best practices for product selection and configuration.
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP with a thorough understanding of IP addressing and network services including: DHCP, DNS, NTP, NetFlow, RADIUS, HSRP, VRRP, NAT, VPN (IKEv2).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Wireless technologies including 802.11ac and 802.11ax.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of dynamic routing protocols including OSPF and BGP and Advanced Routing concepts such as Equal-Cost Multipath (ECMP) and Floating Static Routes (Administrative Distance)
  • Thorough understanding of SD-WAN, MPLS and Hub and Spoke Network Architectures.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of end-to-end QoS (Queuing, Policing and Traffic Shaping).
  • Strong experience implementing, maintaining and supporting multi-layer switches and switching technologies including Link Aggregation (LACP), VLANs, 802.1Q Trunking and Spanning Tree Protocol.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Cisco Nexus Datacenter Switches and vPC (Virtual Port-Channel) Technology.
  • Strong experience and advanced skills in configuring, maintaining and supporting network security including firewalls, routers, switches and security appliances preferably Cisco ASA or Firepower (FTD) Firewalls.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Secure Wired Network Access Control (NAC) using 802.1x and Cisco ISE.
  • Strong experience in Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and NX-OS (maintenance, patching and upgrades).
  • Skilled in supporting and maintaining IDS/IPS; creating reports and analyzing data from Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems.
  • Experience implementing and supporting VoIP telecom solutions, including cloud-based services.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Hybrid Cloud Connectivity, preferably using Microsoft Azure; VNET-to-VNET connectivity and Cloud to On-Prem (Site-to-Site) connectivity.
  • Ability to analyze and assess computer/network architecture requirements and determine optimum, cost-effective solutions.
  • Highly skilled in Troubleshooting and solving complex LAN/WAN connectivity and performance issues. Ability to analyze Packet Captures using Wireshark.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience or a related discipline with a minimum of eight years of networking administration in a corporate environment.

Licensing and Certification:
  • Cisco Certifications, i.e. CCNA, CCDA, CCDP and/or CCNP are highly preferred

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer, copier, phone, and other typical office equipment

Working Hours:

  • Hours may vary and will require some evening work; frequently requires working 40-45 hours/week depending on business needs
Travel:
  • Hours may vary and will require frequent work outside normal business hours to address issues and avoid interrupting business operations.
  • Occasional travel to branch offices or seminars may be required.

Physical Demands:

  • Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment
  • Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.
  • Ability to speak to and hear customers and/or other employees via phone or in person
  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move from one office location to another

Salary Range: ($135,400 to $152,500) per year, plus a discretionary Bonus.

The salary range is determined and based on internal equity, market data/ranges, applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, and education.
