Our client is seeking a Senior Motor Design Engineer in the Aerospace industry!


Eleven Recruiting is searching for a Senior Motor Design Engineer for an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge aerospace technologies within a dynamic and innovative environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Motor Design for our aerospace generator company during its prototype stages in Orange County, CA.
The ideal candidate for this position should possess a robust background in Mechanical Engineering/Design/Analysis, with a focus on pneumatic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical components/assemblies. Experience in designing, analyzing, and prototyping mechanisms similar to motor operators is crucial. A diverse background in mechanical devices and subsystems, particularly for applications in military or commercial aviation, is preferred. Specialized expertise in structural analysis using Finite Element Methods and classical hand calculations will strongly distinguish candidates. Proficiency in CATIA for design and ANSYS for analysis is highly valued. The candidate must demonstrate flexibility and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment, both as a member of a cross-functional team and as an individual contributor. Success in this role requires the ability to excel in performance tasks with minimal oversight and to collaborate seamlessly within a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect electromagnetic analysis to maximize the performance and efficiency of Motor Designs.
  • Develop detailed designs to provide design feedback and component requirements.
  • Analyze simulation and measurement results to correlate models and refine designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of Motor Designs into overall system architecture.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Motor Design processes and workflows.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Conduct motor analysis and modeling using Ansys Fluent and related tools.
  • Collaborate to understand system requirements and constraints.
  • Utilize Multiphysics analysis techniques to optimize Motor Designs.
  • Implement automated workflows to streamline the Motor Design process.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance motor manufacturability.
  • Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions for innovative Motor Design solutions.
  • Collaborate with testing and validation teams to ensure Motor Designs meet performance and reliability criteria.
  • Stay informed about advancements in electromagnetic properties and rotating machinery.


Qualifications:

  • PhD. in Electrical Engineering or other related Engineering backgrounds
  • Hands on experience working with low voltage motors (120-200kw)
  • Proficiency in motor analysis and modeling of radial and axial flux induction
  • Proficiency in Multiphysics analysis techniques
  • Proficiency in electromagnetic properties of rotating machinery
  • Proficiency in modeling with Ansys Fluent and related tools
  • Experience designing and implementing electromagnetic motor solutions and designs
  • Experience optimizing Motor Designs
  • Automate workflow to reduce engineering investment in the design cycle
  • Experience designing motors for manufacturability

Additional Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of AC/DC motors and generator systems
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record in leading Motor Design projects from concept to implementation
